Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
The TreatmentBefore the first EFT session the client will be asked to make notes of any negative experiences they have had in their lives. The Practitioner does not need to know any of the situations or details of these issues if the client does not wish to share them. During the EFT treatment the client sits in a comfortable chair and works with the practitioner saying various statements whilst tapping on certain meridian points on their own body as instructed by the practitioner. Unlike traditional counselling the client does not need to dwell on or bring up any of the negative situations again meaning it is a painless and relaxing method of treatment. If you have not experienced EFT before then a good website to have a look at is www.emofree.com which has many videos of actual sessions of EFT. The treatments usually last between 60 to 90 minutes and very often only one treatment is required to resolve an issue.
How does it work?
EFT is a Meridian Therapy or Energy Psychology which has its basis in Chinese acupuncture and psychology. EFT was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990's and he states that the basis of EFT is that all negative emotions are caused by a disruption of the energy system. EFT allows the body to restore the energy flow and therefore clears the problem. For example, when something negative happens in your life there is a disruption to your energy system which creates negative feelings such as fear or anger. In time other negative experiences occur causing these negative feelings to build up which can lead to psychological and physical problems. EFT works by identifying the roots of these negative emotions and by focusing on them while tapping certain acupuncture points, clears them. EFT often works rapidly and will be taught to the client so they can use it in their every day lives following the session. EFT is safe to use with children.
What are the benefits?
EFT has been shown to have amazing results in developing positive attitudes and behaviours, resolving personal problems, decreasing stress and restoring balance in the clients life. EFT assists clients with a wide range of physical problems such as pain and headaches. It is also excellent at assisting clients with psychological problems such as panic attacks, anxiety, fear, phobias, eating disorders, addictions, depression and anger. Testimonials covering these conditions and many more can be found on www.emofree.com
